Broadway Theater District Returns!

Currently a street of mom and pop discount shoe stores and electronic wares, Broadway is about to return to its former glory as LA's "theater district". With clean up already begun on several historic theaters, the current owners have combined forces with city leaders to invest in this strip to revive downtown's cultural identity.

A modern mix of retail is also envisioned as a way to generate foot traffic in the district, which is currently dominated by independent Latino-oriented shops selling a mix of clothing, discount goods, electronics and perfume.

The first phase is for an investment of over $36 million into beautification of the area, with the later phases amounting to a total of $50 million along the 3 mile strip.

I just love driving down Broadway and staring at all those incredibly ornate old time theaters. Can you imagine this street once the revival is complete? Absolutely stunning
